Terminal Security Manager

Your Future Responsibilities
  • Reporting as the head of the security department directly to the Vice President Operations
  • Plan, direct and lead the MANJ Security team, which delivers 24-hour security services across the entire terminal, including recruitment, training certification and development programs; ensuring a strong a positive team culture is promoted and roles are fulfilled effectively
  • Manage all security related contracts, including oversight of the outsourced security service provider
  • Responsible for the effective control of all aviation security functions relating to access control, staff screening, goods screening, security guarding and patrolling, monitoring and surveillance; ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met
  • Develop and manage departmental CAPEX and OPEX budgets in line with company strategic goals and future security considerations (e.g. regulatory changes, certification requirements)
  • Lead, develop and maintain the Comprehensive Terminal Security program in alignment with the PANYNJ Security Department (PASEC)
  • Lead, develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Response Plans (RP) for the security department
  • Review SLA and KPIs in place for third party contractors, ensure adherence to all performance measures; implementing penalties where applicable
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with (PASEC), Port Authority Police (PAPD) and TSA, in relation to security regulations and measures in place at Terminal A
  • Provide regular reports on security performance to upper management and third parties as required
  • Represent MANJ at all security related governance meetings and incidents/emergencies/events (delegated as needed)
  • Facilitate regular two-way communication regarding security awareness across MANJ departments, airlines, tenants and other applicable parties operating in Terminal A
  • Facilitate open interface and dialogue with MANJ operational and support departments, to align needs and priorities in relation to day-to-day operations
  • Preparation and implementation of detailed quality management program for Terminal A Security, including inspections, tests andaudits
  • Implement a Security Management System (SeMS) including:
  • Gap analysis report and priority steps to continue SeMS development
  • Risk Register
  • Training Plan across aviation security eco-system
  • Quality Assurance / Incident / Change Management Plans
  • Performance measures & monitoring tools
  • Communication Plan
Your Education & Training
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in security related subject
  • ACE or AVSEC PM qualified
  • Member of AAAE / ASIS or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years aviation security experience at management level – must have previous front-line airport experience
Your Skills & Experience
  • In-depth working knowledge of 49CFR parts 1540, 1542, 1544, 1545 and PANYNJ requirements for Airport Security & Certification
  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience of managing day to day aviation security operations at a major airport
  • Previous proven experience of managing third-party security service providers
  • Broad understanding of Security Management System requirements
  • Knowledge and experience of airport emergency operations and business continuity
  • Experience in the set-up, system requirements and operation of a Security Operations Center (SOC)
  • Skilled in problem solving and decision making
  • Excellent project management, written and interpersonal communication skills (written and oral), including strategic relationship building
  • Experience with mentoring/coaching security operatives
  • Demonstrable track record in dealing with the effective communication of complex organizational and human resource/employee relations matters
  • Calm under pressure
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office)
  • Demonstrable experience with computerized / electronic security system
  • Experience with contract development, administration, budgeting, and personnel administration
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience
  • Proven ability to effectively interact at all levels across multiple stakeholders, balancing different needs and wants and maintaining professionalism in high-stress situations
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Must be willing and able to work outside normal office hours, including weekends, plus be part of on-call team where escalation is required
